Student Support:

Student Ambassadors. Student Organizations. Classes. Courses. Cohorts. Etc.

While working as the graduate assistant with the ePortfolio Project, I spent a lot of my time trying to imagine student struggles with ePortfolios and writing before they occurred. Being in a position between “student” and “faculty” as a graduate assistant, I tried to think like a student and teacher as I worked on creating my own ePortfolio, and then while I tried to create engaging support materials for students whether they were presentations, handouts (see below), video tutorials (see website to right) or concrete examples. Most of my experience with students came from working with faculty in their courses, workshops for certain majors and student organizations, and the Student ePortfolio Ambassador’s Program.  I quickly realized that majors were not the only struggle for students as they came to create an ePortfolio, but also their stage of life was an important factor in where to begin working with students in the ePortfolio project.

Here are a few more examples of presentations and handouts created for explaining different concepts about ePortfolios. Click icons are for a powerpoint & handouts.

However, I am a firm believer of the importance of the presenter or teacher's role in the use of these materials as I am in the use of technology in the classroom. These materials do not stand alone, but are an aid in helping students grasp concepts as the material is taught.
